Im thinking full coilovers, but I want some opinions so i dont waste a grand vs a few hundred.  

coilovers will always be better than trying to match properly suited springs / dampers if you are driving hard with a lot at stake.  Its definitely worth it.  just spend the extra money, in the end the car is a 20k+ investment, why would you risk it under hard conditions just to save a couple hundred?  coilovers are definitely worth the money.
