Well if you want a 10 second car, by the sounds of it you want a drag-only oriented car. I suppose a 5.0 Mustang or LS1 Camaro would do the job nicely with bolt ons and nitrous to a stock motor.

^agreed. Buy an old americrap and fix it up for straight lines. You'll spend twice as much doing the same thing to a tuner car and for what? reliability? corning? No on needs that in real life. :P

Yea my car will run 10's on race. Just really wondering how reliable it will be as a daily haha. Thinking bout keeping my SL also as a daily and just taking it to the track.. Hoping with race and nitrous i can hit high 9s

But back on the subject. I agree with those 2. If you want a cheap fast car muscle is the way to go.

For now 11.5 will do for me. After 11.5 you have to cage the car, and then it starts losing daily driveability since you should wear a helmet at all times in a caged car.

I dunno bout nitrous and turbo applications, I know nitrous works well with NA motors, becuz NA motors are starved from the air they require to see large gains in hp, so nitrous usually suffices.

Adding a small shot of nitrous to a turbo car will help reduce turbo lag, if ur running large turbos that take a long time to spool up, but that should be less of a factor on a 3.0 V6 on a 3kgt.

Personally, I have chosen the methanol injection route, becuz nitrous supplies the motor with more air, well I can put in enuff air to make 500whp with my t3/t4 50trim, so nitrous wont really help me see any substantial gains.

As for turbo lag, which is an issue since I dont hit full spool til 5000rpms, I figure when I can afford a standalone EMS, Ill just advance the timing by 6 degrees or so, and get some different cams for volumetric efficiency mods that will further help spool, and not require any nitrous.

If I were you, I would look more into methanol injection and a standalone, than nitrous, since the vr4 already comes with turbochargers that can force in as much air as needed, well, when you upgrade over the stock turbochargers anyways. Heat plays a big factor in turbocharged cars, because they run hot, and a methanol/watermix can drastically reduce intake charges, while increasing your octane.

Ive seen some dynos of a vr4 running 19t's. Dont remember boost but after adding i think it was a 250 shot they did have a decent horsepower/torque increase.. Actually think it set the new torque record for the 3k's.. 880 if im not mistaken.

Ok so are you talking about 10 seconds in an 8th mile?

A 5.0 mustang? Let me explain why im lost here. If you are buying an old 5.0 because your low on cash...you will never have that 10 second car.

Your going to get 14's stock if I remember correctly and thats if your driving perfect.

I have some advice for you and this is not meant to be rude. If your posting because you want to know what car to use that can come close to 10's you might want to learn a little more about cars before you dive into that realm.

If you dont realize how fast 10 seconds in a quarter is..then you should slow down a bit.

Anyways this wasnt meant to be rude like I said but nothing here made sense to me.

a 10 second car is faaaast.  faster than a 600hp Z06 vette c6.  I agree with ReCa - i dont think too many people know just how fast that is.

The guy said he wanted a 10 second car. THe 5.0 mustang is one of the easiest cars ever built, to run 10's cheaply with.

Has nothing to do with being low on cash, it has everything to do with choosing the correct car for the desired task. A light RWD v8, is going to have an easier time running 10's than your average FWD, NAaturally aspirated 4cylinder.

Christ, look at this mostly stock 5.0, running 10's with a little nitrous.

that video is bs

so your saying if you take a stock mustang 5.0 and add nos its faster than any other mustang cobra...svt...whatever....ever made?

out of the factory there is no mustang cobra that gets 10's so that video is claiming to achieve 10.92 at 122mph with a stock mustang using a little nos....... right

Yep, thats exactly what Im saying. Whats not to get, any RWD 2 door v8 is a great drag platform, if not the best. I dont think you have drag raced at the quartermile too often, if ur having such a hardtime figuring it out. Those cars have motors often 3x the size of a imports 4cylinder. All you need is to free up exhaust flow and improve intake of air, add slicks to the stock rims as the guy in the video has done, and a 200-300shot of nitrous, the motor is so large it can safely handle it.

The 5.0 in that video is a 2 door notchback, the lightest body style they ever made for a Mustang.

If you run a 13 in an import, thats considered a good quartermile time. If you run a 13 in a 5.0 mustang or LS1 camaro, its considered a disapointment.

wow dude your an idiot..anybody else reading this guys posts?

are you really speaking from experience or are you reading this stuff somewhere?

200-300 shot of nitrous? are you really that stupid? that stock mustang will handle about a 150 shot if your lucky

do you realize that even if you give that mustang 600hp..it still doesnt run 10's?

and since those mustangs came stock with what 225 horsepower there is no nitrous kit on this planet that would make it do 10's

ReCa id say your the idiot. A stock 50 engine can handle alot of abuse. easily a 300 shot if you tune it properly. And as for a 600hp mustang not running 10s are you stupid or just retarted. There are mustangs with less than 500hp running 10's. Now if you were smart you would think of something other than just power = fast strip times. Lighten the car up add a full exhaust system, high flow intake manifold, and a properly tuned shot of nitrus around 200 shot or bigger, along with slicks and you would be pretty damn close if not in the 10s. So why dont you do your homework and read up on something before making a retarted coment like that

Wow nj06 thankyou for being even more of a moron than the other people before you

So if what your saying is true...everyone that has ever gone out and bought a mustang cobra or anything else for that matter should have just got their hands on a 87-93 mustang 5.0 LX and slapped a 300 shot of nitrous on it...

So hey all you tuners out there...you might as well give up your cars man because all I have to do is put a bottle on my 89 mustang LX and im going to mopp the floor with you..

wow I mean ive seen some stupid opinions before but thinking that you can take a stock mustang and a 300 shot of nitrous is going to have you running 10's wow
