i want to swap out the 2.4 dohc strait four in my 2000 cavalier z24 for something i can get a little more power out of, like a 4G63 or an F22C maybe. Not sure which, most likely a JDM motor, strait fro japan. What i want to know is if this is even possible? if so, what would need to be done? front clip from another car? If i buy a motor, im buying it with a new transmission (with the motor) and i dont plan on doing a rear wheel drive conversion, so what motor would you suggest and what transmission would go with it? Like i said, power, so something i can get parts for easily. and nothing SUPER expensive. $500-$1000. thanks

This swap does not sound very common for cavaliers, and therefore will be a difficult, SUPER expensive swap to do most likely, unless you can provide all the materials and mechanical skill to do it yourself. Since the motors you are talking about were not featured in cavaliers, they will most likely require some welding, and finding the correct length axles and hubs for non-chevrolet parts. The car will be down for months during this process.
Even if you did do it, the car will not be terribly fast, since the 4g63 comes with open diff. transmission, you will just sit at the light and roast your tires, your best bet would be to buy an AWD Eclipse GSX that has a 4g63 stock, and work with that, since it is built much better for racing from the factory without swapping motors.

If anything i would go with the supercharged cobalt engine swap if anything. That way your running forced induction from the start.
Btw have no idea how complex this swap is. Ive just heard it spoken of quite alot of times from my friend who drives a z24.
