I am an absolute beginner at tuning cars. I know the basics such as changing my oil and other fluids, but I don't know how to do anything that could increase the power of my car. It's a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS Spyder. 2.4L 4cylinder stick shift. I don't have the turbo, nor do I know how much it would cost to install one.
Any and all help/advice is greatly appreciated

You have a 4g64 in your car, I beleive it to be a variant of the 4g63, so the car might be swappable.

A regular stock 4g64 is in no way built for hp making capabilities that the 4g63 is. If you insist on working with this platform, your best bet would be to swap that out, and swap in a 4g63.

The car will have trouble breaking into the 13's though, which IMO isnt very fast at all, in part due to its heavy curbweight, but mainly due to its FWD drivetrain. Just letting you know in advance, it can easily be made into a quick 14 second car, but not a "fast" 12 second car.

I think you may have my car mixed up with a GSX. My car is a 2wheel drive not four. when you say 4g64 are you talking about the type of engine I have?

No, I stated you were using a FWD drivetrain, the GSX has an AWD drivetrain. I am entirely positive which platform your using, my brother owns an eclipse spyder GST.

Yes, the 4g64 is the engine you are using, it is a 2.4L NA. A lot of 4g63 users like to use 4g64 components to inscrease the displacement of there 4g63's. You need to get a 4g63 out of a gst eclipse, and i beleive it will bolt into the stock motor mount locations, but ask a dsm forum before you do anything, Im more familiar with S block toyota cars.

You could probably do this swap for less than $2000, maybe less than $1500 even, if you know someone who can swap the engine for you, a regular mechanic will probably charge you alot though, but you need to go to a jyard, and look for 4g63's out of other eclipse gst's, preferably a 6bolt. Get everything too, engine harness, axles, ecu, engine, tranny.

Mazda 6 Car specs are often a major factor when deciding on buying a new Mazda 6. Get all of the information you could want including data on performance, cargo space, handling, fuel efficiency, and all-inclusive car specifications. The Mazda6 comes with a L4 standard engine and goes for a suggested retail price of $20,900.00. It also comes with comparable warranty coverage to other vehicles in its class. Other similar vehicles are the Toyota Prius and the Scion XB.
