what crap ass place do you live in? modifying your car is by no means illegal if done within regulations and you use parts that are 50 states legal  ....or 49 like most of them are, sorry california. but something like an open exhuast is illegal but not headers and a performance muffler

Im sure if he had a 50state legal sticker his exhaust might be deemed legal. Surely exhausts from exhaust shops are legal as there are several exhaust shops that can basically sell you your own weld on, modified exhaust.

Eitherway, its sweet living in Missouri. Here, there rolling back emissions laws, and pre 1996 cars wont even have to test for it. I can throw in a 2.2stroker, gt35r turbo, 850cc injectors, dual walbro 255lph, AEM EMS, open exhaust, 44mm wastegate, no polution controls whatsoever, and still pass inspection, LOL!

hey i live in Ennis Texas and the only thing is that it has to pass smog if it is above a 1972 year model. below that you can do pretty much anything.

HAHAHA oh man, you people in the US are getting [censored] over man haha as far as i know, in BC there are no laws about any exhaust systems, as long as the car meats emission standards or whatever, and sadly for ricers, no neon guys, anything thats bright and flashes and distracts people gets you a nice 250 dolla fine.

so come on up and enjoy, cuz it doesnt snow year round here... except in calgary

well as long as the exhaust has a c.a.r.b number making it legel on it they cant charge you my great aunt lives in la and use to work for the supreme court until 6mths ago and she said that was all that the exhaust needed was that number and if you bought the car used you can say that is the exhaust that came with the car

I hate to keep adding to this, but most, if not all exhaust, don't have carb #. Carb # are for parts that will modify the engine in some way that could affect smog. Cat-back exhaust do not and cannot affect smog in any way so there's no need for a carb #.

i have recieved 3 tickets on modified exhaust the first one i just paid the fine of 166 the second one i got it signed off ant took it to the judge and still had to pay the fine on the third time i told the officer that i have had 2 priors and on the second one i had it singed off but i still had to pay the fine so what he did was he told me that this ticket can only be signed off by a refferee so i went so they can measure the dbs and it was at 91 the noise was legall so once again i took it to the judge and he asked if my car was stock i said yes but it wasnt i had carb legal everything and the noise was legal but it was a electron blue honda civic si on a bodykit so after that i got rid of it cause i didnt want to deal with it but know they are messing with my little brother you cant even hear the exhaust unles it is at 4000 rpms but its not even loud but the cops are *** they abuse there power in riverside county
