I'm debating between...
00+ Toyota Celica GT
03+ Mitsubishi Eclipse GS
04+ Scion tC

Car must be below $12 grandish, maybe $13.

I really like the Celica.  Small, lightweight, looks nice stock.  I think I'll grab that, but any suggestions?  It's basically a everyday car, but I want to show off  ...

Now, I know how much you guys hate body kits, but I really want one and I already have my mind set on that.  But what the hell is Duraflex?  It seems like a stronger fiberglass...

The Scion spanks the other two you have listed...and there's a strongly developing aftermarket support for it.

The Celica is the best choice despite possessing less overall HP than the Scion. Either one would be a good choice, but the Celica is a more performance oriented car and has a better suspension setup. Not to mention the fact that there are quite a few turbo Celicas GT's running around.

As for the Eclipse... you noticed that neither of us said to get it. Please take our advice and FORGET ALL ABOUT IT.

the GT had ~180 hp i thought while the tC makes only ~160.  and boost on the celica engine sounds quite fdifficult considering its insanely high CR, around 10+:1 i could be mistaken however.

If it's a GT, it's 140HP; the GT-S is the higher figure that you're quoting. As for the compression ratio, you could run boost on it if you didn't get silly and do more than 6-8 psi. I'd still shore up the internals though... just to be on the safe side of things.

Take it from me, the "proud" owner of a 2002 eclipse GT. Do not buy one unless you want to spend a lot of time maintaining it and spending quite a bit of money to get it moving fast. The stock top end on these cars are 140(still not that impressive) that it quite possible the only thing you can half-ass talk about. Other than that you better have a bank account.

He's talkin' about the Eclipse GS (4-banger), not the GT...your car will be fast soon enough when I'm through with it.

If you plan on boosting a motor, i suggest scrapping the bunch you picked and getting a car that was built for boosting, but not putting a bodykit on it and putting it into the motor.

Cars built for boost from the factory are already tuned for turbocharging from the factory, there more reliable, bottom ends are generally built from the factory, and better suited for turbocharging.

If you want to go fast, just find a car that already came with a turbocharger from the factory. Or a v8.

Do you like gas mileage? Do you want potential for lots of power but not spend lots of money? Get a older Mustang GT.  You can set it up for anything.

A travesty!

Although, he's correct.  The Foxbody Muskrat is one of the most affordable power-makers out there, with an incredible amount of aftermarket support.  Furthermore, the 5.0L 302 they used LOVES nitrous...lots of it...in stock form, and loves a twin turbo setup even more....mmmmmmmmmmm....torque.

buy a model A pickup cab for cheep
build a frame from 2by4 steel tubing
find a junkyard v8 and youve got a lightweight car that will blow everything off the road
