This maybe a lame questions but I wanted to know, is it pointless to have an intercooler if you don't have a supercharger or a turbo charger added prior?  I already know who is going to be to the first to come drop some knowledge on drop.

Yes, very pointless. You only need an intercooler to cool down hot ass compressed air. An intercooler on an N/A car would probably only make it slower, as the air has to pass through the core before it gets to the throttle body, so it would be like the most restrictive intake ever.

Thanks.  I thought that the more air you got the better off it would be.  I just assumed that it was like the ultimate intake?

Intercoolers just cool the compressed air down. Yes more air equals more compression and better vaporizes the fuel for combustion, however, an intercooler is pointless unless you have a turbo or supercharger. Those two devices work on the concepts of forced induction, where air is forced into the block for better vaporization, combustion, etc. But the intercooler's job is to cool down that air and make it dense to produce better air to fuel ratios. So yeah, it's pointless, not sure if it would slow your ride down too much, but it won't have any affect on boosting your performance.

You are correct that the more air, the better. But adding an intercooler would be the equivalent of trying to bolt on the most restrictive intake ever, way worst than factory. Do you know what the ultimate intake is? No intake at all. Just a straigt shot to the throttle body (unless you have a MAF sensor of some type, in which case that would cause a problem). The problem with that is you are getting unfiltered air, which can cause all kinds of garbage to get into your engine.

Thanks for all the help so far.  I wanted to ask about cam shafts.  I have an automatic 97 Acura Integra LS.  If I add "new" or "performance" cam shafts to the engine, how much difference will that make in my car performance and will I need to change anything else when I do the camshaft work?  Thanks in advance.
