personally I have never actually street raced. but I like to challenge off the line come to a red light and race to the speed limit or at most 5 over. it's usually pretty obvious who wins. haven't done it in a while tho. And I am proud to say I have never lost to a civic!

maximaluvr: We all know street racing is dangerous, but that is part of the risk weather you realize the risks or not, take for example where i live, most everyone from around the area meets up friday/saturday nights at one of the spots, and after an hour or so we all go out to an old air strip about 30 minutes from here, its nowhere near where anyone could get hurt, the only person(s) at risk are the spectators and the drivers who actually race, you just have to be ok with the risk, we've had a couple crashes, one guy ran off the end of the runway on his kawasaki ninja doing just over 100mph, the guy ended up being just fine and back out the next week doing the same things, if you ask if street racing is friend or Foe that really depends on who you ask, like the one dude said look at what street racing (or atleast part of) has done for the entire industry? if it wasnt for street racing would you have cold air intake for a civic availible on every corner?
"look at what street racing (or atleast part of) has done for the entire industry? if it wasnt for street racing would you have cold air intake for a civic availible on every corner?"
it's a symbiotic relationship. the two feed off of eachother.
realistically, without the street racing scene, the aftermarket industry wouldn't be half of what it is today, and in turn, because the parts are so available, it empowers [if not encourages] tuners to slap an intake on their civics and see just what it can do.
and i know it has been repeated in almost every post, but we're all guilty of it. hopefully the majority of us have both the common sense and maturity to keep it to a minimum. consider the risks.
new laws up here in toronto, ontario have made it harder for street racers [and anyone speeding, for that matter]. if you're caught going 30km/h over the speed limit, your license is suspended, your car is impounded for a week and you get a fine with a MINIMUM of $2000.00. the maximum fine i've heard of is $10,000.00.
and my favourite quote: "Last week, Ontario Attorney General Michael Bryant started a heated debate over street racing when he said police had the right to seize and destroy any car that has been modified for street racing--without a warrant"
consider yourselves lucky.
