Yes my father is giving me 30'000 dollars this year in the middle of my senior year and I have multiple choices too do with this money I can do multiple things like buy a good car (Nissan,Mitshibishi, toyota, and other good car manufacturers that have good cars too supe up but I Have a few cars that I like.Like a toyota matrix hatchback ive found some body kits for it and engine components. My moms car is a pontiac sunbird that ive found body kits for and i dont have too give her any money for it I can use my whole 30 grand on it.But I was thinking thats a lot of work on that car but its different than all the other tuner cars ive seen you know.It has a 3.1 Liter V6 engine a manual five speed.I love driving it too but needs many tune ups.New shocks, brakes, tires, rims, body kit, paintjob, transmission, shifter, and more engine components (Turbos, sparkplugs, wires, battery, ect)So I need too know and dont get me wrong im buying straight performance parts on my car. What ever its going too be but im also eyeing the eclipse,celica,accord,civic,Rx7,280zx,and others my my best bet is a 2005 lancer evolution which is about 28 grand. But it comes with many performance parts on it when you buy it I was allways wanting one.Well people I need help if you own a good tuner car and would like too express your advantages too building the car and the disadvantages go ahead.

ok heres the deal...im gonna tell u straight up.dont take ur moms sunfire or w/e...tho u would have 30 left u should spend it on a compact or an evo...ur right, evo's do come with a nice performance package out the box and the all wheel drive dont hurt much either...the alternative to that is buying something like a civic SI hatch which is a blank canvas waiting for u to piss all over it with perf parts, or n e thing that turns u on when u look at it...as long as its reasonably priced and u still have money to spend after on parts...ur good

My advice? Take the money and invest most of it for your future. If you want to spend some on a car, don't spend more than $8-10k. Anything more than thatwould be a complete waste.

I'm probably going out on a limb here, but I sincerely doubt you're even eighteen years old. Due to this, no one around will insure you on an Evo or anything else turbo powered. If they do, they're crazy and will charge you INSANE rates. So, I'd simply forget about your aspirations of automotive hooliganism.

Be smart about this... it's not often that you have such a financial opportunity placed at your feet. Think about your future before you think about any car. Trust me.. I'm old enough to know.

thank u 2GNTEclipse! considering this is import tuner, believe or not i wouldn't have even said that since this is IT and when say something like that u immediately infer that he wants to spend all of his cash on his ride and beautify it by getting parts and u would say everything being revolved around that, good advise . again thanks.

dude...your "too" and "u" hurts please speel it right.

now...your dad just happense to have $30,000 laying around and wants to give it to you to buy a car while his wife is driving a sunbird? sounds like bs to me...while I'm 97% sure that you're full of sh1t, I'll at least respond...if by some chance, this is true, you should do as that dude said earlier, spend no more than $8,000-$10,000 and keep the rest. use it for college or something...

wellsince were going along the lines of not spending it all all i can say is get a used car u will tuely love cause i had almost the same situation with my car it was either a 240sx for 3200 or any type of car for like 10k but all i wanted was this beat up 94 vert 240 with an sr (no turbo) and the parents agreed to replace the back window cause it was all hazed over and paint the rear bumper caused it was faded so i got the 240 casue its a car i truly love adn proud to say i own it even though it in rough shape so if u can find a car thart gives u that felling and its in your budget than get that car (by the way a 240 is always the best choice)

So you don't get the wrong idea, I never said nor implied that youwere stupid. And if he does put you under his insurance coverage, his will go up exponentially on a car like that. The reason being is that you're the primary driver and not him. If he still signs off on it, he's brave.

Read my first post to you again concerning this money. If you still decide to blow that whole wad of cash on a car, you ARE stupid. Don't take offense, but it's true.

Now, just so you know, Ive heard all kinds of stories from Highschool kids, saying there parents were gonna give them a shitload of cash, or getting a viper soon, and yet, none of them turn out to be true. I say, until you have the 30,000 in the bank, dont think about how you will spend it, until you actually have it.

I'd find a decent ride, something cheap but something that will get you around, and easy to work on. Don't spend you're whole wad of cash on one car. I'm in college now, and believe me, 30 grand or a little less would be hella nice to have in the bank right now to pay off expenses and the basics for survival. Hell if I were you, I'd go out and find a beater (civic, accord, corolla, celica, old rx-7 like the fc3s cause those are sweet if you can find one, etc) for about 1 grand, then beef it up with about another 8 grand, then bank the rest.

well im going to have to go with berzo on this one. You could get a 240 in great shape inside and out get a sr20 motor, they provide good horse, great base engine and its inside your budget you should look into it. Plus 240s is d shiz.....sorry i already said this on the other post

Ya you can make good power with the ka motor, but its pretty damn hard to find one without a gazzilion miles on em. And the sr's internals can handle a lot more horse power than the ka. Have you done the sr swap?
