I just got my first car this month and I want to upgrade my audio system. I'm a big music fan and really into that loud bass and particuality like rap music.
But I don't know what manufactuers I should buy from. So I need some help. I want a amp, 2 subs, and door speakers. I already have a ALPINE deck that came with my car so I dont want to buy another one.
I also dont have a lot of money. I plan on saving up for all of this, since im pretty much broke right now =(
So please help as much as you can

i went with sony xplod, and plan on swapping my 10 and my 6x9 once i get the money. It has been very reliable and great sounding sofar. My 760 amp is on its second car and about 4 yrs old. Still hits like day 1. I just picked up a 1200w amp and i must say it's very nice. I would not recomend lighting audio though, i had a pair of 6x9 and they don't handle high volume as well as the sonys do. hope that helps

well if u are considering sony which is a good choice this is just my recommendation go with mtx audio if u saw their jackhammer subwoofer 20inch and many other products u see why their good, but their amps usually come with a built in crossover but that's if u are will to save money a separate crossover works best since the range of hz i believe to support the system. whatever type of system u are going for a really extreme type system like which alpine show cars have or something simple. web page homepage

MTX are good speakers all around, i installed them in my friend's taurus. we just replaced all the stock speakers and they sounded awesome even without an amp. make sure that your sub box has enough cubic feet of air space. Just check the specs on your speakers to find out what is recomended to help choose the box. as for going all sony that was just my choice, i've used a pryamid 1000w amp to drive a bandpass box in my toyota. sold it with the car and kept the sony 760amp. I did use the sony on the same box, they hit about the same. A good point was made though, are you trying to keep simple or go with something you can compete with?

Personally, I'm not too high on Sony's car audio stuff. Sure, it's Sony, but there's much more stuff out there that's better.
I, for one, really like Infiniti speakers. They make some of the best products out there. On top of that, they warranty their stuff longer than all of the others. If you want solid, clean sound, go Infiniti... you won't be disappointed.
I'd highly recommend you go out and listen to a bunch of different manufacturers and see which suits you best. Make sure to take some music that YOU like to hear, not something they provide. If they don't let you listen to what you brought, walk. You can always spend your money elsewhere.

when you go down to your audio shop look for a sound room. they should have something set up to hear combonations of heads, amps, speakers and subs, take you favorite cd or mix of songs you like and just take the time and listen to different speakers.
Anyone have an opinon on audiobahn subs?

sony, kicker, pioneer, mtx are reliable products and shouldn't dissapoint you if set up properly. I'm sure jl audio, clarion and alpine are just as reliable but i, personally haven't used or installed them so i can't comment.
I didn't like the lighting audio or pyle speakers that i have used. They didn't seem to hold up as well as the other stuff.

i got all xplod, and listen to me when i say this, ive had them for almost 3 years, a pair of 4-way 6x9's in the front and back, sony deck, and two 12's w/ 350 RMS subs. xplod..its cheap, its sony, its reliable. dont listen to other bias people who favor brands. mine still hit like day 1 and people laugh until they hear them..and thats all that matters.

How does this look?
-Alpine Deck (Already Installed) -2 Xplod 12" Subs XS-L122P5 ($109.95 each) -4 Xplod 6x9" 4-Way Speakers ($99.95 each) -Xplod 2/1 Channel Amp XM-2200GTX ($199.95)
Total ESRP $819.95
Although I am not so sure if I want all this. I mean is 4 Xplod 4-ways speakers too much? These are door speakers right?
Also, did I choose a nice amp? I saw another one for the same price but has a max power of 600W (XM-4060GTX) and mine has a max power of 1200W
I dont think I wanna spend over $800 for audio. It seems like too much. What do you think I should do so that it costs around $500-$600?

im just sayin thats what i got. get the 1200 watt amp, its actually 770 RMS, so it puts 335 RMS to each 350 RMS sub. its perfect, subs dont distort, and they hit hard, but not too hard. also the 6x9's are what my car had in front and back. check what u got stock, and get those in front or back, im sure xplod makes whatever u have in both. maybe 4x6's in front and 6x9's in back..thats common.

no, im not saying if theyre in the door, or what size. they are what they are, most likely 6x9's, i dont know what kind of car u have. just take it somewhere, or measure them yourself, and get replacements in the size you have, but xplod instead.
