Lowering question

I recently bought a crx and am looking at lowering it 2 inches or so with a new set of springs.

Ive never lowered a car before. I want to know if i'll need a camber kit so my tires dont wear uneven, or if i'll be fine.

thanks

You'll absolutely need a camber kit. If you don't, you'll be sorry.

While you're doing the springs, you should replace the OEM shocks/strust, too. It'll make a huge difference. Additionally,I wouldn't recommend lowering any car more than 1.5"-1.75" or so. The lower you go, the more strain you put on your factory suspension parts. You also increase the ride harshness and road noise that is transmitted into the cabin.

also, would it just be worth it to get a coilover setup instead. i dont plan on racing, or having to adjust the heigth. just exploring the options

There are far too many places to buy parts for your CRX for me to list. Here are a few that carry lots of quality stuff:

http://www.nopi.com
http://www.summitsportcompact.com
http://www.jcwhitney.com
http://www.speedoptions.com

Parts for Hondas of almost any vintage are plentiful. Look around and buy according to what you can afford or a bit above. That way, you'll be satisfied once it's done and won't want to change something right after you installed it.

As for coil-overs, they can be great.... but they can also be a colossal pain. The problem lies in adjusting them. You have to get under the car or into the wheel well to do it. It's dirty and hot, and not easy to maneuver in there.

If you have no desire to adjust the height, don't waste your money. The point of coil overs is their adjustability for different types of racing. I have them on my MR2 Turbo, but I used to use it for SCCA racing and autocrossing. It was necessary. Since you're planning on nothing like that, don't make the added expense.

along with the camber kit, bushings, and shocks what else would you need to replace when installing lowering springs to prevent excesive wear on tires? Thanks

That should about cover it. You could also mess with the toe links and other suspension parts, but I'd leave that to a professional suspension tuner.
