hotrods are the cheapest way to make power, it you're looking solely into making power and not looks, you could always buy a $500 G body, put in a cam+intake+Carb and you're already on the way...

I'm well aware of this route. However, I'm not much of a carbureted fan and prefer more than just power alone. That doesn't mean looks, but it does mean a well rounded machine.

Can't say that I've heard of that, but good for you. Carbureted is too much of a pain and not very efficient in general. I used to have a carbureted bike... don't even get me started on that thing! I love my EFI GSX-R.

Why do people talk [censored] about things they know nothing of. Obviously you don't own a hotrod. I have spent many thousands of dollars on my engines. Hotrodding is not a cheap hobby, but a rather expensive one. But like any other hobby, if you take time and pride in what your doing, it's not going to be cheap.

I didn't say that it was cheap. I said that it was the cheapest. of course, buying a huge-assed Hemi is going to be expensive but, you are the *very* small minority, and while I don't particularly care if you believe me or not, I *do* have a hot rod, my '66 El Camino. and it is considerablly cheaper than Import Tuning...somehow, I don't think it is I who don't know anything about hotrodding. from what I understand, Hotrodding isn't about buying the biggest, most expensive engine you could possiblly buy (like you *say* you do) it's about taking parts and putting them together to build a car that performs and if they don't fit, you make them fit. it's a hobby, not something that you just throw money at and hope it works.

Again you DON"T know what hotrodding is. Hotrods are cars from the 1910's through the 1940's, not before or after. Your 66' is not a hot rod, more of american classic, maybe american muscle. And i never said you have to put big pricey engines in them either. But if you take time and pride in your work it's gonna take some money. I don't really expect people on an import forum to know much about older american cars, but why talk about them if you don't know anything about them.

the years are up to personal opinion, some say 1910-1940 some say 1950-1970. I say neither it doesn't matter anyway. what makes a hot rod a hot rod is what you do to it, not the year it was born. plus...it has to be American. I've said all that I want to say on this subject, so I exit.

oh. and I'm not *just* on an import forum, I frequent Hotrod, Car Craft, and Sports Compact Cars forums too.

I never said I knew anything about "hot rods".  By the way, regardless where you live a "hot rod" will be something different to another person.  What makes what you think and know so superior?

can this post be any more killed. *** like i have said before-we are the new "hot rod" generation, we are doing what they did back in the day-chopping,cutting, and rebuilding our cars. we drag from light to light or a quater mile, damn i heard my dad talkin bout doin that with his muscle car. if it was not for the "hot rod" gen. what would we have? who you think shaved door handles, or put more power into their engine, etc. they did so lets not knock the hot rod gen. we are just like them in a way, im sure that someone on here had a dad who was into muscle cars or what ever and hooked up there car,now they are into hookin up there car, same thing. so i think this is killed.

Both...Muscle cars today are rare to see while you can't avoid tripping over an import modded out somehow.

I got more heads turned in my 79 Trans-Am than I do in my 97 Eclipse GSX.

Import, Because there' nothing like taking a normal little import compact car and making it rip then see the look on the dude's face when you blow by him not to mention the style factor is crazy. Like someone said it's self expression what you want how you want make's a big difference I got different patches for my car and it made a huge difference in it's appereance something small and in significant like that changes the look of your car. Dosent add hp but hey it look's good.

Any car made 66 through 72 and had a V-8 are muscle car. Mustang's were the only car called a pony car. Have u never heared the camero called a pony killer? It wouldn't make sense calling a camero a pony if it was a pony killer.
There were just differnt versions of the V-8. 289-302 and so forth. I stateded as a muscle car fan, but as time went by I soon found out that import have alot 2 offer.
I do think the F&F movie hurt the import culture. When most of the 16/new drivers with a import saw the movie they started the dragging in the city limits which gave a bad name to all imports.
