Replying back to the person that discussed how people ruin friendships due to the Import vs Domestic topics. I lost my boyfriend of 6 years because I sold my 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS for a 1998 Honda Civic LX Sedan. He drives a 1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass SL and as soon as I said, " Hey I sold the Monte and got a Civic.." I think he had a heart attack and wow the name calling and the outright hate he had for me.
I'll be honest, I used to be a narrow-minded arse, I grew up in a Domestic family but the older I get and since joining a team and being exposed to Imports, I have grown to love all different types of cars.
.. and I agree, all cars have their pros and cons. It's also on how people drive their vehicles too. I hear a lot of people complaining that the "clutches die fast" well, maybe you need to drive an automatic or learn how to properly drive a standard. Any car can last over 350,000k, it just depends on how much money you're willing to spend on it.

Well, for me it's a mixed love. I absolutely love the imports all customized with trick doors, nitrous, windowed hoods and what not. They look hot, sound hot and are fast as heck.
However, to me there is NOTHING like watching something 600+ horses come off the line. The sound, twisting of the frame, wheelie, etc. is just erotic. There's no other way of explaining it. If you're the kind of person that feels the same way about a HOT car as they do about a HOT woman, you'll know what I mean.

^ american muscle cars unfortunately are a lot faster than imports in the 1/4 mile. however, when it comes to handling, braking, etc. japanese and euro imports definitely own.

and really if this was a post reffering to the on going dispute over american vs import id say import.. well compared to older american cars. and i say this because now americans are learning more of what a sports tuned suspention is and not just how to go fast in a straight line. but even with americans "new" technology id rather have a honda or a nissan or something were when some one looks at it they dont expact much but once they see me move they gonna wish they never visited that ford dealer or chevy dealer. yeo im vert narrow minded but prove me wrong show me an american car with acceptable suspention and ill buy it. "drag racing" isnt real racing, i just see it as a way of testing your car! :]

Drag racing is a vastly popular sport all across the world. Saying its not real racing is discounting all the acheivements in drag racing over the years.
Yes, drag racing is more of a race for the builders than it is the drivers, but it is still a vastly popular form of racing that tends to draw larger crowds than autox or drift events have ever done, and its been doing it for the better part of a century.
I personally wanted a car that was good at all forms of racing, whether its drag racing on street tires, autox, track or even some ability to drift (although not great at it) and get good gasmileage which is why I went with my imported car.

for me, i would probably rather have a muscle car. not a new one, but a classic. i enjoy tuners, and i have an 87' mazda RX-7, but i've learned that the older muscle cars are easier to find parts for, seeing how i live in the middle of BFE. i have to drive over 100 miles to come anywhere near someone who can help me fix my car if i can't seem to find the kink. plus, with a classic, its all about owning a part of what started car tuning and car mods. plus, the muscle car you can just FEEL the power just idleing. wats better than that?!?!

I appreciate both muscle and tuners. It all comes down to my application and how much money Im looking to spend. Road course type racing............ Ill start off with the AWD Evolution anyday. Drag racing...............give me the RWD Chevy Nova. Dont get me wrong, with some imagination and the proper tuning, you can make just about any car do what you want but then it depends on how much money you are looking to spend.
