When it comes to it I think hotroder or tuner are 2 words that mean the same thing. Different times differnt words. Sorry can't spell

Ok. Try this out. The words hotrodder and the word tuner mean the same thing. Even though the words are differnt, they mean the same thing.
Is that better?

Actually, they DON'T mean the same thing. Now, if you had simply said "performance enthusiast" or something along those lines, I'd agree with you.

The term "Hot Rodder" actually refers to the pre-1940's period of cars but primarily focusing on the late 1920's-1930's era. A "tuner" is a newer thing and can be somewhat attributed to those who primarily focus on imports; however, this term could be used loosely to define those who modify domestic cars as well.

I'm not trying to be some smarty pants or anything, so don't take it as such. I'm just trying to clarify it for you before someone comes in here and gets stupid about it (like we've seen).

To get back to the original question..... that's a tough call for me personally. The unfortunate thing is that either is a financial pipe dream, but I think I'd have to go with American muscle. As Eclipse stated in another thread "There's no replacement for displacement" and you just can't fit a 400 ci (or larger) engine into the enigine bay of most imports. Besides, I was looking at old pontiac Tempests (the goat's predecessor) on ebay. The price isn't bad, and from there I could clone a goat pretty cheap. Let's face it, there's a proliferation of old GM small block V8s sitting in salvage yards across the nation for a few hundred dollars. In the case of the generation I'm talking about I could get a new Edelbrock carb and manifolf from autozone relatively cheap, and I've got some serious tire smokin power. However, I joined this forum, and haven't been doin the trash talk of some (i.e. bigblockboyz and others), so imports have a special place in my heart. Could have somethin to do w/ the fact that I've never seen 35 mpg out of any american engine (the american rides that make that kinda mileage tend to have foreign engines in them anyway )

P.S. I do hate this forum though cause it ends up consuming so much of my time... I should have given up and gone to bed hours ago. Guess I can't blame you guys for my lack of discipline LOL

Bah, the 3g Eclipse is trash. They should have skipped the 3g and went right to the 4g. Especialy with it's horrible performance, non existant aftermarket, and wannabe testarossa door flares. Ug.

it depends on the car. i would rather have a new gt-r than a  new Z0-6.  but i would rather a GTO than eclipse.  Personally i kinda like the german cars, benz and audi can make really nice and fast cars, however its useually more expensive.
