for most up and coming new model cars now comes up in the automotive industry such as ford, dodge, amd numerous other companies, always trying to push the bondaries to a better quality car, truck and car alike, while I notice this as I'm naked on my beanbag eating cheetos just as I'm staring at the tube at car commercials thinking to myself these stock vehicles are more powerful than most car on the street right now, as I speak. are we the tuners up to the challenge to continue to push the limits that we can to our very own cars as well? or is the industry farther or more closer then we the tuners think, or is it that the muscle car industry coming back from the dead to proclaim it's trophy. we and the muscle car dudes back then have more in common then we think rj thinks so too. 400 is a great number to have but it's becoming too average now on the street, because we do not wnat to become smoked by a stock 400 gto do we?

I was actually looking into this recently and the GTO's 0-60 and 1/4 mile numbers were really close to most of the high end imports such as STI/EVO/G35 etc.  Whereas the GTO has over a 100 hp difference and the weight difference came out to something in the range of 200 pounds.  Just some food for thought.

New Corvette C6 Z06 505hp 487 torque, 11.5 in the 1/4 mile 7:42.9 at the 'ring got a long way to go guys. As for the GTO remeber that car is not turboed or sc'ed it is N/A, I've seen those cars run upto 13.2's stock.... rather have a car that's fast of the lot than one that takes a good 5 grand to get there.

The numbers are impressive, and they are somewhat scary. It just means that new innovations and ideas for us tuner guys to cook up. We just need to keep evolving the culture. However I'm not exactly intimidated either. It depends on the scenarios and the people behind the wheels. I'm getting excited thinking about it.

Well you know i sat thinking about this post for a while and checked out the stats for myself, and although i would like to think the sti is faster i have my doubts. The reason i think the sti is faster in both the quarter mile and the 0-60 times is because of the traction issue. I believe if you took away that traction issue, say by starting at a rolling start and then going that the gto could possibly beat it... just something to think about. dont get me wrong though id take a sti over a gto any day.
