This forum discusses both sides:

And this implies the $100K+ beast that 2GNT seemed to be speaking of(scroll down, it's there):
modern racer

So, I guess after a little web research.... we still aren't any farther along in our quest to aquire (yeah, sure I will) a 2007 Supra

ok does anyone have any info regarding the nissan skyline and getting one in america?  other than going through motorex.  are there any that might be here in the states that anyone knows aobut?  i want one.  don't care if it is a gtr or not.  just want one really really bad.  but yeah, if anyone knows where one would be in the us, let me know.  i live in central florida if that helps any.

Hey, just read your thread. Anyway, I know a guy in Cali who can get an R32 GT-R for 20 grand if you're interested. Although, it may not be an option for you as it is not registered, legalized. I myself, am awaiting an R34 GT-4 but it will have RB26DETT swap once in the states. In case I change my mind for some reason the car would cost around 80k. Motorex has gone under the table so these are the very few and possibly last GTRs that will ever see US roads. If you are indeed serious about buying one drop me and email at "seriozhuk@gmail.com" and we'll talk. Regarding the cars being legalized, if you are smart and do some research you can drive the car and be fine with the local cops. Good luck in your search and if anything mail me.

Yea and I own a 1961 Ferrari 250gt in my garage with only 300 miles on it.

ANyone can claim to own any car they want on the internet, but no one will beleive you unless you got some proof backing it up. Every ricer it seems like, thinks the skyline is the best car, but to me its overrated, only ran 13's from the factory which would make it about as fast as an LS1 Camaro.

If you want to talk about the best import car ever IMO, itd either be the TRD2000gt or TRD3000gt, because some TRD2000gt's were leaving the factory with 500hp. Atleast my pick for best import is somewhat original, everyone always says skyline this skyline that, its overrated.

sirscr0tum, first of all I have to disagree with you on this matter. Skyline is not overrated, it has HUGE potential with it's RB26DETT engine. When it's "stock" it has 280HP but actually it has ~330HP (280 was the number on the paper to make Japanese government happy) also, with a few bolt-ons and a good fuel management system it can go over 700HP with the same, stock block! Secondly, how many of those have you seen on the US roads? That is a very superb car to have: beatiful, powerfull and very rare in the states. Therefore,  if you don't like the car it's your problem, you don't have to criticise anyone's opinion and their GOOD taste in cars.

P.S. some Skylines tuned by Nismo were sold with 500HP - called Skyline GTR N1. I think that it's a good comparison between both Skylines and both MR2s.

The Skyline is VERY overrated if you're comparing the cost of importing one and getting it federalized to a car that's easily its equal in the USDM. I'd take an STi over any Skyline, but that's me. Especially when you factor in the extra costs and what not. I will say it's a great car, but it's surely not the "Holy Grail" as it's been made out to be.

If neither he nor I like the car, that's truly our problem. However, you continue to fan the flames when you then criticize what either he or I happens to believe to be 'tasteful'. You should have just left it with it being our problem. You sound like a hypocrite otherwise.

I'm not flaming, but this is pretty dumb. It's all opinion, so let's leave it at that.

Well said 2gnt, my fellow mr2 turbo tuner.

Yea, skyline ppl can get there 80,000 dollar overrated car. If they wanted to be fast, they could get an already here 3rd gen RX7 or Supra TT, 2 cars sent to america that were specifically built to compete with skylines in JGTC amongst others, for a small fraction of the price of the skyline, and with the money left over, build it up to roast some skylines.

While were in the neighborhood of used 80,000 dollar cars, why not just get a used Ferrari 355 Modena or a New 500hp corvette zo6? A stock one of those could easily smoke a stock r34 skyline, and cooler car for the dollar IMO.

Or get an MR2 Turbo for even smaller fraction of the price of the cars I listed above. MR2 Turbo use to compete with the Mclaren F1 and other cars in Le Manns, if you want to talk about most car for cheapest amount. (Not that the MR2's that left the factory had much to do with the Le Manns MR2)
