I've lived in Japan for the past 7 years, I just moved here to Everett, WA about 4 months ago. So I am ALL ABOUT imports/anything from Japan. I'm only 17, and since I've been in Japan (where you have to be 18 to get a license) for the past 7 years, I don't have an american driver's license, but I get mine in about a month. Anyway, I've been car searching around Everett. Mostly for 240SX S13's. But no luck. Anyway, getting to the point, I need some people to list some cars for me that fit these specifications so I can broaden my options.

Please list cars for me that are...

  • Import/Japanese Make
  • Rear Wheel Drive (for drifting)
  • Manual Transmission
  • State-Side Available
  • Preferably Cheap or Used (but do not hesitate to list NEW cars too)

So far I've only come up with: Nissan 240SX and Mazda RX-7, since those seem to be the most popular.

Cadilac Catera

European=
Every BMW thats not AWD
Every Mercedes-Benz in USA tats not AWD
Volvo - 240, 740, 760, 940, 960, S90

In racing AWD is superior though, as proven by AUDI

Well pretty much I just want Japanese Make cars that are RWD so I can start drifting with them. I've found another car that fits my needs. New list... if you can, add some more for me.

  • Nissan 240SX
  • Nissan 350Z
  • Mazda RX-7
  • Mazda MX-5 Miata
  • Honda S2000
  • Toyota MR2
  • Toyota Supra

I sure hope you have deep pockets, man. Drifting is really hard on cars, and you're going to need lots of upkeep and tires to keep at it.

I still don't see what all the fuss is about. Maybe I'm just old, but I've been sliding cars around corners without any fanfare for years now.

I have a tip for drifters...If possible...Do it on slick mud (CLOSED COURSE ONLY-i have a number of frightening stories of drifting and coming head to head with an approaching farmer in a F350 u.u) it's easier on the tires and triple the fun if you KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

Anyway I'll finish what I've come to say to this post...for any of those cars listed you'd have to have deep pockets. At 17 I envy you...whatever you did in Japan for work must go a long way in America.

haha. Oh yeah, I'm lookin' for a hachi-roku as well. 3 grand? Alot of money? I guess. But it's not like I'm asking for an FD or something. That's alot of money. And yes in Japan drinks in the machines are about a buck fifty when converted to US$. and they're $0.75 here. Now this type of money deal goes along with everything... so coming to the states actually doubled our money. heheh.

Thats a lie GNTEclipse. you do it to show off to the cops that are on your tail.

My friend, drifting around a corner with the cops on my tail would be the LAST thing I'd do or be on my mind, trust me.

I don't see why it has to be import, lots of domestics are VERY good at drifting, but it's probably more of a apperence thing huh.... or maybe you just can't stand the sound of a V8 to an I4. Either way the best way to go is get a 240sx or a 300zx and drop a large engine in there. You'll be spinning your tires like crazy.

I've been thinking of getting using Thunderbird or Mercury Cougar for difting myself. there are plenty around, they're cheap and "right-wheeled drive"

You'd probably be better off with the Cougar since it's smaller and lighter. I'm sure a hefty V8 or a nicely tuned V6 would give it some serious snarl.

If you abuse the car or nitrous, you're asking for whatever trouble comes your way. My Eclipse had a mitrous tank installed with a 100HP shot. I never had any issues with it short of running out of go juice. If you have it installed properly by a professional, you'll have no worries.

A cougar's just another Ford... Throw in a 4.6L or a 5.0L w/ a mustang 5 speed, and the clutch. Cut a hole in the floor and pull the shifter handle off the column... LOL. I doubt it's that easy, but shouldn't be too awfully extreme. Especially seeing some of the other hairbrained ideas floating around the forum.
