Hey, I'm looking to buy a 1996 honda civic ex coupe that has 140k on it. It looks to be in pretty good condition it has a new exhaust pipe that runs about the entire lenght and a farily new water pump and timing belt along with good looking tires and carfax checked out fine. The only thing that is keeping me from from getting it is the 140k miles it has and I'm just wondering how many more miles (realistically) could I expect to get out of it before I am facing major problems.
Thank for any help.

Honda's are know for going over high miles. If u keep it in good condition like change that oil every 5 or 6 thousand miles and get an inspection every time u change ur oil

err...inspections don't do anything for keeping it in good condition...you must mean to get a tune up whenever you do an oil change (supposed to do that every 3000 miles)

Thanks for the help everyone. Still not sure what decision I will make but this has helped, I may just continue looking for something with less mileage.

If u can try looking for a acura. Like honda, there engines run well on high miles if serviced and tuned every once in a while.

yea I would like an acura but the only problem is that even though they are made by honda they are a good deal more expensive.

Hey everyone thanks for the advice, I've found another car its a honda ex coupe but it only has 114k on it which I feel a whole lot more comfortable with so I decided to go with that one even though it has some minor body problems (a dent in the drivers door and and a small rust spot)140k was just too much. But this brings me to another question I think the door will need to be replaced, anyone know how much that will run me?

I dont think u need to replace ur door just b/c of a dent and some rust just go to a body shop near u and tell them ur problem and they'll tell u there price. I say it can run u from $200 to $400
