Forced Induction isnt everything, Mitsubish is moving away from forced induction tuning because there variable valve timing (Mivec) works pretty well and has good power output. You dont have to turbo it just get ECU mods from like Ralliart and do regular bolt ons and I am sure that 300-400Hp is not out of reach....
If you want real power, forced induction is the only way to go. MIVEC was designed to fatten the powerband for better overall delivery. It's not a solution to a turbo or SC.
If you want to realistically get 300-400WHP from the new Eclipse, you're going to have to do a hell of a lot more that simple bolt ons and an upgraded ECU.

Not necessairly, with a Ralliart ECU (if avaiable yet) along with cam and springs full exhaust and all thats atleast 50Hp not even mentioning port and polishing the head. Most ppl go to forced induction because its less expensive than tuning a NA to its max, but with a v^ its totally different from tuning a like a Honda B series, the displacement will yield power easier....

Even with the mods you're listed, you're going to need more than those to achieve fifty more wheel horsepower. I know- I had one of the fastest all motor Eclipses in the country. Three hundred WHEEL HP without my 100HP shot of nitrous. I know how to build motors.
And I'm aware that a V6 will yield better power when modded, but it depends on how good the mods are and if they're done right or not.

Sounds nice, but I hate the body. The back is fine, but the front nose ruins it. 265hp stock sounds very inviting. I'd rather go with an older model. Just on personal liking.

If, like you said, if you want real horsepower, forced induction is the way to go, that for the most part is true. Although, you being a person of such a fast eclipse as you claim, being all motor, should be the first person to recognize the point of an all motor car, that, I think he's trying to make. Oh, kudos to the eclipse, sounds like a real fun ride.
Now on the upgrade troubles, all you would really need to do is work on the drivetrain, i.e. Lsd. Then you would be seeing the gains he is talking about, but it is true, to make a fast all motor car, it being one of the most respectable things by my standards, does take a lot of money.

I know how fast an all motor car can be, but wringing out the power from it is not always easy. That was the case with my Eclipse. I won't say how much I spent on getting it where I wanted it, but let's say it bordered on obscene. That's what a bulletproof race build costs, unfortunately. ![]()
I don't have it anymore, either. I sold it to a friend who slapped a big turbo on it. It now puts down ~500WHP with room for much more.
Thanks, by the way. And welcome to the forums.

I love the damn thing. Mind you I'm not thinking about the performance potential even though its stock numbers are very respectable. I'm thinking about its possibilities as a show car. The possible designs for the bodykits, show focused body moldings and the interior (damn I'm getting a hard on). I see these cars being the next big winners in the up coming shows when presented correctly.

Are you serious. The body for the previous eclipse dropped sales in the US. That was one of the most bland and "ordinary" bodystylings I have seen in a while. I don't dispute the engine work but that has been addressed as much as I can figure.

not to argue with you here dude, since you seem to be everywhere and know everything but my friend in CNY here has an eclipse that has about 400 horses without nitrous ![]()
yeck, the 06 eclipse looks kinda funky. it wouldnt be hard to bump the hp a little bit, but they changed a lot of stuff around (like they might be doing with the v35 gtr *cries).
*cough* she has a turbo on it. sorry, im kinda new, dont hurt me =X now i know what you mean....holy crap dude, thats amazing! kudos on achieving that.

No biggie. Trust me when I say that achieving 300+WHP without nitrous from the 420A was no small feat. It was quite an accomplishment, and I'm happy to say I did it. I still get to drive the Eclipse now and again when I see my friend just to relive old times, but I'm much happier with my MR2 Turbo. ![]()
By the way, welcome to the forums.
