At what point in your experience with modifying your car still in warranty have you run afoul of the "your car is modified, the warranty is void" speech?
According to the Magnuson Moss act, the dealer must prove the modification caused the warranty part failure. Not many people know that. I heard it from the head of SEMA.

The only problem is that dealers are the ones in control. They will be quick to pin the blame on you for doing the modifications in the first place, and will thus make YOU prove otherwise. That's the way they work, unfortunately.

But then, even with your modded parts, the warranty should still cover the original parts of the car.
i mean, are you saying that connecting a turbo will invalidate the warranty for the engine?

It could. The dealer sees everything as a potential problem. They also feel that non-OEM parts are not tested sufficiently to be warrantied under a manufacturer's plan.
If you're going to do serious mods, I'd wait until after the factory warranty expires.

I work for a dealership in west Michigan. It says right in the Toyota warranty manual that any part "not conforming" to OEM specs will void the warranty. In other words, a K&N intake isn't going to void the warranty, but a "V" trim turbo is probably gonna void it.

Some reviews say the K and N doesn't trap dirt as well as the OEM filter, therefore if your engine starts using oil, the engine warranty could be void.

Haven't ran into anything yet. However, I have heard stories about changing turbos and voiding the enigne warranty. Dealers claim that incorrectly installed components can cause damage and they are not responsible. They should have a list of what voids the warranty within the manual. Overall, it's all about personal choices and money.

well ya the reason a turbo could void the warranty is because it puts added stress on the motor that it might not be built to handle. With that aftermarket turbo kit you would be able to turn up the boost past the engines capctity.
