Maybe it's just not worth the hassle. You'd have to import the engine and also pay on top of that, someone for the costs of swapping the motor. That and also trying to modify all of the components that would be needed to go along with it. And your tranny wouldn't exactly be able to handle an RB26, especially if you upgrade it. Go with the SR20, get some bolt on goodies, i.e. turbo, grab a new ecu, etc; do what is needed and just go from there. Saves alot of time, money, and the hassle. Good luck.

You can fit a RB in a 240sx. Its already been done. Ive got a magazine (Import Racer) that the cover car is a 240sx with a RB in it. Its a bit pricy but if u can afford it.... go for it!

There are a lot of Skyline engines out there, wow you guys need to catch up on ur JDM stuff. OK you have several engine to chose from.... RB26DETT (dont recomend) RB25DET or RB25DE and CA18DET. The RB25DET from the R33 is probably your best bet and it fits in your 240 perfectly enoug clearance and all. The SR20 is a good engine too but sooooo common and right now if your serious about your car a RB is the way to go. Now about the AWD part not all Skylines are AWD and they can be easily fixed to put 100% power transfer to the rear so dont kno what you guys are talking about, oh yeah forgot to mention the RB's torque band is ridiculous I know someone with a R33 with RB25DE and it is ridiculous and thats not the turboed version. And you dont have to import from Japan try searching in the Caribbean, cheap and closer so cost way less..... I know thats where I am from.

dont go with the skyline engine because like mentioned there extremely rare in the states and harder to find someone to work on it if you mess it up...you COULD try gettin a supra engine in there..then mod it up..either way be prepared to spend some dough

I havent had too much trouble finding parts for my JDM only 3rd gen 3sgte in the states. Generally I either find the parts I need off the USDM 2nd gen 3sgte, or other Toyota's suffice.

just a random question here. what's the fuel economy like for engines like that? the sr20, rb series? we all know they're top notch for power, but for a daily driver, how would they hold up? do they use about as much as a Civic? or do they guzzle like a 440 magnum?

bull crap you can't fit the RB26DETT into a 240. All you need is the R33 cross member the resistor pack. because super street did a section where the put the RB into a s13 240

with the S15 front on an older 240 i dont think it looks good, unless you have a lot of money go with an SR20 with a metal head gasket and turbo upgrade

whoever said that you can't install a RB26DETT motor in a 240sx because its an AWD drivetrain should jump off a bridge!! All you gotta do is get a RB25 tranny to male it RWD!! dee dee dee!!

i have seen a 240sx with a rb26dett engine with 760hp here where i live in canada and yes it is possible with the right about of money
but i would personally go with a sr20 aftermarket turbo, exhaust, ecu, intercooler, etc..
much more reliable and easy to work on specially for the starters, and for the parts im pretty sure there's 240sx parts all over the place

First of all, its more than possible but you would be crazy to put a Skyline engine in something you have only had for a week. Second, if you do not know anything about swapping engines, doing motor mounts, cutting into firewalls, wiring up new ECUs,etc I suggest you don't even think about it.
Stick with the SR20 swap or just build up the motor you already have. The SR20 swap is simple enough that I could train a monkey to do it and its been done enough that all the necessary considerations and possible problems are already known and well documented. You can find decent instructions for this swap online.
To all the retards saying you can't put an RB26 engine because its from an AWD platform, stay away from giving advice when you don't know what you are talking about. The RB25 transmission from RWD Skylines bolts up to the RB26 and I have done it so just try contradicting me. Also, if you get the necessary axles, shafts, etc you can use the RB26 transmission and make the 240 AWD but its an even harder job.

The Q engine from the 350Z fits and is newer.
