Once you get the cash flowing, you will have one of the fastest cars on the block. I remember when I had a liking for the Mitsubishi GTO, but I was really a kid playing grand turismo #1 when I started to think about what kind of car I want. Now I am currently thinking about the import,Mitsubishi FTO AWD. Currently, Noone has ever mentioned that car on this forum or almost any website i've visited (which gives me a reason why I want it so much).

probably because: 1-There are none state-side 2-There are better cars to spend tens of thousands of dollars to import

New here, pretty much a grass-roots kind of guy.
1993 240sx KA24DE-T Stock engine (unopened, 9.2:1 compression), 170k miles and just about time for a refresh. T3/T04E 8-9psi Tial 38mm wastegate SS tubular manifold FMIC 31x6x2.75 Custom IC pipes Custom 3" downpipe Custom 2.5" exhaust Custom methanol intercooler sprayer (I built it) KOYO 2-row aluminum radiator Twin electric fans on adjustable thermo. Walbro 255 pump 370cc/min squirters (550's should be here in a week!) LM-1 wideband O2 with datalogging Battery relocated to hatch (custom installation...no kit) Custom installed hood duct/vent from a 280ZX for reduction in underhood temps. NACA section of it blows the incoming air downward onto the filter (has a curved routing duct). I installed that at home. Z32 MAF on the way for a blow-thru setup Pickin' up an S14 VLSD w/ axles this week for it
All installation/tuning done by myself. When the new injectors and MAF arrive, I'll tune it on 12-14psi, still on the stock engine. It's fun to drive, nothing to brag about. Could never out corner a Ferrari or out accelerate a 500cid nitrous eating big block. (Note that I typed the word "nitrous" rather than "NOS"...thank you.)
Suspension is on the short list, along with a 4pt cage to be installed this month. The car is daily driven, autoX'd, occasionally drag raced and should see some road course action this year (with different wheels + slicks of course).

Wow, awesome set up, I aspire to be you. Did you make the piping yourself? And much respect for what you've done. I want to be able to say the same things when Im done with my Sr swap. Whats your quarter mile run? mid-high 13's? Where in the hell did you find an s14 lsd, jealous Id like to see picks when the suspension comes in and it stops looking like a sky scraper. Looks great man, keep us updated.

Thanks for the compliments, but please, don't aspire to be me, or you'll never make a million bucks a year...at least not by age 28. ![]()
Yes, I pieced the intercooler pipes myself. Here's a little better underhood shot.

I can't wait to get the freakin' Rancho9000 offroad suspension off this car (just kidding, it's stock)! Looks like a dang monster truck right now, but I guess I can do only one project at a time, right?
I might take it to the strip this weekend and see what kinds of times I can squeeze out of it. I've recently changed a few things, so it should see something like high 8's in the 1/8th mile (nearest 1/4 mi. is 100 miles away), if I can get it to hook up on street tires and not give the one-wheel-wonder burnout. I won't have the VLSD in by this weekend. ![]()
Oh, check junkyards for S14's. If you find an SE, look for ABS in the rear. If it has ABS in the rear, it's a VLSD. Also, the VLSD cover looks like a large scale heat-sink. The diff, axles and rear swaybar are upgrades. I found the whole set for $100 and they're removing it from the car for me, which was smashed in the front, so it should all be intact.
When you get your SR stuff happening, keep us posted as well. Who will tune it for you, or are you going to use the stock ECU/injectors for a while? In what area do you live? If you need some tuning help, I'm in East TN, if that's anywhere near you.
Thanks again.

Dude... you live so close to what I call home. If I ever get moved back to Chattanooga, we'll hav to meet up, grab a burger or something and I'll drool all over that 240 in person. The hood vents are a really nice touch and look completely stock... which is always the mark of a great custom job.

The intercooler pipes look great! I gotta learn how to weld, or did you weld it? If not where did you get all the piping angles in order to piece it together, and did you just buy a normal hotpipe, or did you custom weld a flange? I kinda want to do that and then get a nice core, that way I can save some money... Dam greddy intercoolers 700 bucks for some pipe and a radiator, gay Looks really clean love it. As for my SR20 its probably gonna be end of this summer until I get it. I got like 600 bucks right now that im saving just from detailing cars(my neighbor owns a businnes and i work for him, get 7.50 an hour pretty good for 17 but I only work on weekends, ) Any ways Im still debating which SR to get, it depends how much patience I have(its taking a lot of self control not to buy a j30 differential and some suspension), if i save my money right I should be able to get an s14 SR. But when I get it I plan on just running the stock turbo at like 12 psi or so, that's really the reason I want it because of the bigger t28 turbo. Then Ill do some suspension and brakes. And then later upgrade to some 470's from the s15 SR and kick the boost to around 17. Keep up the good work, post picks of your suspension, and your 2 burnout marks.

Sorry for the delay in replying to your questions, MeLoveImports.
I bought pre-bent (mandrel bent) "J" sections of pipe. They can be found on Ebay for about $100 per set of 5 or 6 pipes. For the cold side I used 2.75" and the hot side 2". Only one piece is welded on the cold side, but the rest are coupled with reinforced silicone couplers. The turbocharger I use (Garrett T3/T04E) doesn't have flanges on the compressor, so you can use clamps with silicone to couple the pipes.
As for finding the angles, well, I kinda have a knack for geometry. I installed custom interior home trim, built custom book cases and custom stairways for about 5 years, and ya' just don't forget that stuff. I just held a few pieces in place here and there, eyeballed it (picture one eye closed, thumb in the air between me and the object...quite comical) and started cutting and piecing.
I recommend coating the pipes (DIY ceramicoating works just fine) because that polished aluminum stuff looks fantastic once you install it, but as soon as you start driving the car that stuff scratches up pretty quickly and looks like poop.
If you need any other details, help, suggestions, etc., please, feel free to ask. Either post it up or PM me, I don't mind either way.
Thanks!

If your intended use for this car is any track related event outside of drag racing (i.e. drifting, road course, autoX, etc.) you should do the suspension and brakes first. They'll give you far more benefit than the increased power would.
As for the brake upgrade, there is this whole community that requires the 240sx brake system to be replaced by Z32 (300ZX) brakes. Let me tell you from experience, this is NOT true. While the 240sx stock brakes suck incredibly and have stupidly small front rotors, there is an easier solution. Unless you're dead set on having 5 lugs, there's no other reason to install the 300ZX brakes because of the hassle and extra weight.
I use Axxis ceramic/kevlar blend brake pads and the cheapest solid surface A-Zone rotor I can find. The rotors are nice and soft and the pads dig right in. Also, the rotors are only about $20 each.
To back up this setup: I live near a road known as "Tail of the Dragon." It's a 2-lane road winding through the Smokey Mtns. that connects TN to NC. I live about an hour away and frequent this road. Now, this is not just any winding country road. It's a stretch that's 11 miles long containing 318 curves. That's right. 318 curvies in 11 short miles. Some of the top superbike racers come here to practice in the offseason when traffic is at a minimum (Tues. in January is hardly bike season, but is usually about 40 degrees F here). We also see supermotard racers, MANY autoX and some other motorsports participants here. The area has been featured in lots of magazines around the world.
I often take the 240 on spirtied (back to back) drives on this road, run it at local autoX events, etc. I've yet to EVER experience any brake fade from these pads. Only problem is the dust they emit.
Sorry for the off-topic, there. The point is, carefully research your brake options and reasons behind any upgrades you make.

Interesting imput, ive been having trouble with my brakes as of many other things with the car. Thats why im leaning toward switching them. A while back my brakes were locking up, and one time they just completely seized and I could only go about 40 top speed. So I bled the brakes and they were fine. Then once apon a time a lady pulled out infront of me I slammed on my brakes and felt them depressurize. Its not leaking fluid, and my MC is topped off. The peddle is now like jello it will brake, but not until the peddle is near touching the floor. Now onto the other things in my car that's wrong, my motor blows, crank angle sensor, and knock sensor codes. Me and the pops today went to check the electrical signal, and there is no power going to my CAS which blows. Then I go to start it back up runs fine, well still crappy but normal, take it for a test drive same thing. Then come back start it up an hour later to run an errand and now it wont even start. Cranks but wont start, and the diagnostic tool had some code 11 or something but my dad erased the codes before I could see them. So this is why I want a new motor, Im fed up with this one. And the guy before me swapped this one in(stock ka), and he was a complete *** Its impossible to trouble shoot when you dont know if everything is hooked up right in the first place. Sorry im just mad at the world. And wanting an sr. Thanks man.

Props on the intercooler piping sounds a little over my head though. Just trying to consider all of my options thanks.
