i'm looking into buying a 240sx and i could use some help. i don't know what a year to buy. i've heard that the 94 240sx is the best year, but i'm not sure. also if  wanted to replace the engine what should i put into it.

*note* i'm just researching trying to gain more insight.

the 240sx is one of the best starter platforms out there. the 240 has lots of aftermarket support, its rear wheel drive and very balanced, making it an ideal drift platform as well.

as far as motors go, the sr20det is by far the most common upgrade to any 240. its the JDM motor found in the s13, s14, and s15 silvias (the jdm version of the 240sx)

an s14 240sx (1995-1998) would be ideal since s15s are out of the question (i would kill for one though) the s13 (1989-1994) is just as good, but it all comes down to looks.

the sr20det is a very easy swap for all models (it was made for the car, just not offered in the US) the body parts from all silvia models are also common swaps, good luck, i love silvias.

oh and by the way the 94 might be the worst one to get most of the 94's are automatic and/or convertible
