well im in a problem with which car to get...now im  into tuning but not HUGE STUFF. I like Civic Hatchbacks but i guess to get any good power u need a whole new engine...The Eagle Talon TSI looks good at 200ish bhp but a lil more expensive+insurance costs...Then theres the Ford Probe GT...Its got a about 165bhp which doesnt sound bad at all without a Turbo...(although i still think it should have 200bhp anyways cuz the V6)  So i do like the Probe alot....Is this a decent tuning car or what?

Thanks

No, stay away from the Ford Probe.  You can do a search and see how unreliable the engines are.  Also, the after market for pars is very poor so stay away from this car and it's Japanese brother the MX6. Go for a 92-95 "EG" Honda Civic Hatchback.  Those the lightest ones to my knowlegde and the after market for parts is unreal.  Good luck!

The Eagle Talon Tsi is well suited for your age. What you need is a fast car that can handle in any types of conditions. Since it is a very old car make sure that you are using the best maintance products like Amsoil www.x10lube.com I have a supped up 95 honda prelude si. It was pretty used up when i brought it at second hand. The engine wasn't that good at first but i was able to bring this old thing back to life by using that money can buy. If you ever heard of nano technology, it is the newest and the best filteration material on the market. It's so good that even the military are using it for there jets, tanks and others things. This company really spends a majority of there money on research and development not on expensive advertisements and sponsorships. That is why you never see it in magazines, tv or other mass media. aMaterial counts when you choose parts.

What generation are you thinking of?, the 1st gen ford probe comes stock with a 2.2l turbo motor, add a boost controller, 3 inch catback, and intake and you would have a 14 sec car. I have a buddy with the first gen gt and we absolutly kill almost every that has tryed to race him, even a N/A supra with 12 to 1 compression and bigger cams, he has a front mount, 15 psi boost with a rebuilt stock turbo with a T'bird turn compresser housing (bigger intake side of the turbo from a 6 cyl car,) the compresser housing from the t'bird (it has to be the IHI brand turbo, not the garret they used) bolts right up to the shock IHI rhb5.I would recomind the ford over any honda if you are not going to dump very much money into it, the honda stock can be butt jacked buy the 1 g gt probe, but after you really get into a honda the probe will show how much the out dated crappy flowing SHOC head is, and ofcourse the tranny made of glass that has a hard time standing up to the stock motor.(like all fords)

Look here for somthing a little different, the grandfather of the 'tuner car'

yes get the probe GT it is a relaible car and it is a great tuner car. i have one myself and i swapped the motor to the *** spec KLZE which makes 200 hp. there is a ton of stuff you can get for these cars you just have to look. there is even a standalone computer called the megasquirt you can get, and it controls everything. the megasquirt is 500 bucks installed, the *** spec motor i got from miami was 680 dollars. if you ask me thats really really cheap for the motor and standalone as compared to your average honda motor that costs 2000 and standalones cost 2000 too. so all in all your going to spend alot more money on a honda then you will the probe/mx-6.  my probe has intake, headers, exhaust, clutch, fuel regulator and a couple other goodies and i ran a 14.7 @ 95mph. i dont have the megasquirt yet but will be getting it very soon. so to answer your question on what car to get i recommend getting a probe/mx-6.

also i would like to add to my friends post....i have had two integra ls'.  a 90 lS and a 94 LS and i spent atleast 3-5 grand on each car and never broke 15's in the quarter... i bought a probe gt with the stock USDM motor with: I/H/E, Standalone(Megasquirt), Stg 1 clutchmasters w/ poly MM inserts, Short Shifter, Unorthodox Underdrive pulley, j-spec IM/TB, Eibach Lowering Springs, Cross Drilled Rotors and alot of wieght reduction and ran a 15.1 @ 93mph. i only spent 600 on the car which came with most of that stuff on the car and havent spent more than 1000 on it yet. Just speaking from experience, i would recomend gettin the Probe GT b/c it will save you lots of money and it will outperform most cars out there today.

hey i just read your message and i personaly think you should go for a probe... its up to you if u want a turbo or non... if u really want 200hp you can get a engine swap with a 2.5L j-spec it has around 200-210 hp and 195-205 torque, and 10:1 compression. with a set of bosal headers and a CAI and a catback you will be well in to the 220-230's est. i own a 97 probe GTS mods: cold air intake, cat back exhaust, bosal headers, nology hot wires.

OH please, I am 18 and drive a low 14 sec all motor vw bug every day O tickets and 0 accedents in the 1.5 years I have been driving, if you have a fast car you need to be responsible. driving my freinds probe can scare the *** out of me (eventhough my bug is faster)unless this guy spends a lot of money, I wouldent expect the probe to go faster than a high 14. that is not fast at all.

i am buying a car in the summer i was wondering what would be a good car for about 10 grand? i was thinking maybe a 1999 prelude sh , a 1999 mitsu eclipse gsx , 2000 mitsu eclipse gt or maybe a 2000 honda accord but i just realised if i got the v6 which i would want since it has 200 hp its only automatic so what do you people think might be a good choice?
