Ive Been undecided between these 3 cars for a while now but finally narrowed it down to 2, the 3000gt and the RX-7. Ive heard that the Rx-7 doesnt seem to last too long, should i get the 3000gt over teh RX-7

I have never owned a 3kGT but to my understanding those cars have serious maintenance problems and the only one worth buying in my opinion is the TT version. Also, its a very heavy car.

If I were you I'd go with the RX7, simply b/c this car rocks indeed. If the engine is close to 100k then yes it needs a rebuild. BUT, if you do some research you can import one from Japan with less then 40k mi on it and for less then $1.5k. The car is light, RWD, twin-turboed and most importantly is a rotary!! Looks just awesome, can't beat it.
However, if you don't want all the hassle with engine swapping and all that shiet - go with the gto (3000gt). But look for a VR4, 4WD and twin turbo. Cj is right, this car is *** heavy, plus the 5-speed tranny on pre 94 models sucks big time. Count your money and go with the RX7

Well, def RX is not a daily driver - that's for sure. You will need another car to get you around. This is more like a weekend or track car. Mileage sucks, engine is not intended to run for too long. This is "race or drag and shut off the engine" kind of car. If you use the car as a daily driver you won't see the 100k mark - 100% guarantee. Engine will wear out the apex seals + you'll be fixing the car more than driving it.
This was one of the reasons that I do not own one, yet. But as soon as I get more garage space and more free time, I'll get one - my dream machine.

It's hard to make a decision for you, since If it was me in your shoes then I'd go with the RX7, wouldn't even think about it. I'm mechanically inclined and work on my car myself so swapping an engine is not a problem - time is. 3k gt is way to heavy for my taste and V6 engine is not that good, 350 HP with the increase of boost and free flowing exhaust is tops that you can get. Want more, start rebuilding the engine, stripping the interior and other body parts. RX7 is light as hell stock, rotary loves to be booster, a few bolt ons with bigger injectors and 500+ HP is achievable. I think that we have no more reasons to go on, do we?

the only problem with the RX-7 is that the apex seals go bad after about 40k-70k miles depending on how hard its driven. this is what needs to be fixed. its normal for a rotary motor to be rebuilt after a certain amount of time. its not like it just breaks down all the time. think of it as just getting routine service.
as for the 3000gt, they break. a lot. its an old mitsu. theyre heavy, looks far worse than the RX-7 (subjective)
the RX-7 is my pick

the 3000gt vr4 twin turbo is heavy, but it is a monster on the backtop. as for the RX-7, i don't really like them(swapping engines isnt fun or cheap). i would go with the 300gt vr4 twin turbo.
